Tapping: Spelsberg

Tapping

The various applications for Spelsberg enclosures sometimes require addition threads, for example to affix the enclosure itself or to affix specific components inside. Tapping must therefore be highly precise and accurate so that later, everything is in the right place, there is no twisting and leak-tightness is not impaired. Years of experience with processing plastic enclosures have made the company into a specialist in this sector.

About tapping

Strictly speaking, tapping is a form of turning, in which the CNC machine is equipped with a rotating tapping head. The feed causes it to cut the thread into the workpiece with the required inclination. Precision is particularly important here, as otherwise the screws may not fit at a later time or the thread's axis alignment may no longer be correct. High quality tools are the only way to ensure exact machining lift without deforming the workpiece.
