Why AK small distribution boards
As DLG-certified products, AK Air small distribution boards are suitable for extreme applications, e.g. in air containing ammonia. The 14 modules from the AK Airs enable the heating contactors to be spaced further apart, thus preventing the build-up of heat.
Spelsberg’s AK small distribution boards are also relied on in challenging environmental conditions. That’s because thanks to their product characteristics, they are just as versatile as their areas of application. A good example of this is Hof Rassenhövel KG from Ennepetal in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The farm which is already being run by the third generation of the Rassenhövel family is mainly involved in pig farming and breedind based on the closed herd system as well as arable farming. Not only the sties but also the residential buildings at the farm are heated by means of a climate-friendly and fully automated wood chip heating system which runs on small pieces of scrap wood that would not serve any other purpose. The supply and control of the heating, lighting circuits and socket outlets for the pig sties at the farm are taken care of by Spelsberg’s AK small distribution boards. These were professionally installed by
Halver-based company Elektro Panne. Safe and easy thanks to the Plus variant
Conditions are harsh in the boiler room due to the dirt caused by combustion along with the waste heat and vibrations. Here, two AK 28 Plus small distribution boards are used to operate the directly adjacent heating boiler for the wood chip heating system. The height-adjustable standard rails for up to 14 modules in each case house NEOZED fuses, RC circuit-breakers, line circuit-breakers as well as a main switch for this purpose.
The additional connection space provided by the AK Plus has been used for the wiring of multitiered installation terminals which are often required in industrial and commercial applications in order to enable fast and straightforward installation.
Another distribution board installation in a more demanding environment can be found at Hof Rassenhövel. Here, the installations are exposed to air containing ammonia on account of the adjacent pig sties which is a wellknown challenge when it comes to protecting electrical equipment on farms. As DLG certified products, AK Air small distribution boards are ideally suited for these unfavourable and special working environments.
Reliable distribution and control of the heating, lighting and socket outlets was taken care of by Elektro Panne who installed an AK-F 56 small distribution board housing line circuit breakers, remote power dimmers and installation contactors. In addition, a combination flange was used to connect an AK-F 14 L-g underneath, housing operating elements.
Installation contactors which are used for the automation of heating and lighting tasks for sties and the adjacent areas produce waste heat during operation. The larger connection space with 14 modules enabled the heating contactors to be spaced further apart. This prevents the build-up of heat and reduces the formation of condensation! The difference between the ambient temperature and the temperature inside the small distribution board gives rise to the risk of condensation forming inside the housing. Not with the AK Air small distribution board: the integrated BEL Air ventilation elements prevent condensation while maintaining the high protection rating IP65. As a result, any condensation that forms is removed from the housing by means of air exchange in no time at all. So more air exchange ensures a higher level of safety.
