Reliable solution for agriculture

In agricultural settings, electrical installations and equipment are exposed to high mechanical, thermal and chemical loads. As an example, the high content of ammonia in the air experienced within livestock farming results in more rapid corrosion of materials. Straw is highly flammable. Grain and other harvested products introduce a lot of dust in the buildings in which they are stored.

All of the above place the very highest demands on the installation as the enclosure used not only needs to have a high protection class, but also needs to be resistant against ammonia, high humidity and significant temperature fluctuations. 

The demand for high-quality technology within livestock farming has been growing rapidly for some time. Whether it is air conditioning and ventilation technology, electronically controlled feeding systems, monitoring systems, or simply cost-effective lighting - the number of components and systems installed directly in stables is growing rapidly. Energy generation systems, pumps or sprinkler systems that are found on many farms provide additional electronics in exposed locations. 

Robust industrial enclosures are generally the right choice in this rough environment – but they are not always sufficient. In order to take into account the specific framework conditions within agriculture, there are, therefore, products tested and certified according to the provisions of the German Agricultural Society (DLG) that also guarantee ammonia resistance, for example.  

As an internationally sought-after enclosure expert, Spelsberg has incorporated these stringent demands of the DLG in the requirement specifications of many products and developed enclosures enabling agricultural installations to be made in a particularly functionally reliable and long-lasting manner. 

They bear DLG certification, meaning therefore that they were able to withstand an ammonia concentration of 750 ppm, an air temperature of 70 degrees and air humidity of 70 % during the course of the DLG test lasting 1500 hours, and are therefore suitable for use within the agricultural sector. 

With the AK Air and the new BEL AIR ventilation element, Spelsberg has also developed ideal components to reduce condensation.
