TK series industrial enclosures have long rated among Spelsberg's best selling products. Originally plastic was used - however there are sometimes strong arguments in favour of other materials. This is why the most popular sizes in our plastic range are now also produced in aluminium.
Empty enclosures from the Spelsberg TK series are true all-rounders. They are available in entirely different dimensions from 50x52mm to 360x254mm and in three cover heights. In plastic, polycarbonate and polystyrene variants are available. Produced from glass-fibre reinforced polycarbonate, with IK 08 they are also able to withstand tough industrial environments, are weatherproof, impact-resistant, and with IP 66 also well suited for use on protected external walls.
The enclosures can be adapted to the particular application in question using the comprehensive range of accessories, from the mounting plate through a wide array of cable entries and up to the external hinges. Upon request from the customer, Spelsberg is also able to make custom adaptations, so that tailor-made solutions can also be implemented with the help of the TK series.
However, plastic is not always the first choice of material. Up until now, if particular resistance to chemicals was needed for some sectors, it was the end of the road for the TK series. Also when it comes to impact resistance the plastic variants have natural limits. And in respect of shielding from electromagnetic interference the use of metal enclosures is also preferred, as these often make additional shielding measures redundant.
Spelsberg has therefore added some aluminium variants to the popular TK range. To find out why these solutions were integrated into the TK series and not into their own separate range, we hear from Friedel Wasserfuhr: “Our range for the TK series includes several accessories, which can be used to outfit each enclosure exactly as you need. We wanted to open this option to the aluminium variants as well, without unnecessarily increasing inventory at our customers and retail partners.”
For this reason the internal dimensions of the new variants are the same as the plastic variants, so that the many existing different types of assembly plates can be used, for example. Only the outer dimensions vary, as the wall thicknesses are greater for aluminium than plastic.
The first variants, which are particularly robust with IK 09 rating, will be available for delivery after the trade fairs in Frankfurt and Hanover. Further types will be added before the end of the year.
